Help! I’m in a sticky situation and not sure how to get out of it. I have a big group of friends that I hang out with most weekends. Doug, who is one of the guys in the group, just sent me a text and asked me out. I’ve known him for a few years and think he’s a nice enough guy, but he’s got no game. I’m not attracted to him like that, and I have no desire to go out on a date with him. How do I tell him that in the most diplomatic way?

Dear Carrie,
I always think honesty is the best policy. Just be straightforward and direct and tell him the truth. Here’s what I would say, “Hey Doug I wanted to get back to you regarding your dinner invite. I really appreciate you asking me, but I feel it's best to be honest here and say that I think you're a great guy, but just don't see us going in the romantic direction. I hope you'll understand I like to be upfront and honest, and don't want to waste anybody's time, or lead anyone on.”
